MIDFOOT PAIN

Midfoot arthritis is a common foot ailment and can be quite debilitating. Often sensitivity is felt with securing footwear straps or laces over the affected joints. This can be relieved with the use of soft padding on the inner lining of shoes. Orthoses to prevent excessive joint movement and rocker soled footwear are indicated with midfoot arthritis. Tendonitis of the Posterior Tibial tendon can result in a dropped arch. If ignored, this may lead to a tendon tear. If you are noticing changes in your foot shape seek professional advice from a Podiatrist or Orthopaedic Foot Surgeon. Stress fractures are more likely to occur in post menopausal women due to lowered bone density. A sudden onset of pain and inflammation associated with weight bearing may indicate a stress fracture. This requires accurate diagnosis. Depending on the severity and location of the fracture, the injury may be treated with a Moon Boot, Post Operative sandal, carbon footplate and/or rocker sole shoe. Orthoses are prescribed to prevent reinjury.
